ALOHA

Growing up you have probably heard the word Aloha and how you can use it to say goodbye or hello.  What many people don’t know is that Aloha is much more than a greeting or a word, it’s a way of life that spreads to everyone you interact with.  Here at Kono’s we are all about extra Aloha in everything you do for what you give will always come back to you.

Early teachings of Aloha taught the children of the islands to joyfully give to others and always with a smile.  It’s all about working hard and respecting not only yourself and others but also the land, the sea, and the sky. You can even break down the word to get the separate meanings that come together to make up Aloha.  “Alo” meaning to share, “oha” which is to show affection or friendship, and “ha” the breath of life. Aloha can even be viewed as an acronym.

A, ala, watchful, alertness

L, lokahi, working with unity

O, oia’i’o, truthful honesty

H, ha’aha’a, humility

A, ahonui, patient perseverance

“Aloha is a positive and contagious way of life.  It’s treating everyone you meet as if they were your family.  It’s love, respect, acceptance, kindness, compassion. You have to be someone others can count on and their shoulder to cry on.  You live it by taking care of everyone on land and in the sea. It’s giving everything without expecting anything in return. You show Aloha by being a good person and teaching others to be good not with words but by example.” Lilinoe Heaukulani

Throughout the years Aloha has been thrown around as if it is just a simple word, but it is much more than that.  We encourage you to bring the Aloha spirit into your life and to show it to others. Need some help? Bring your friends and family into any of our 3 locations and we will show you just what Kono’s extra aloha is all about.
